The materials from this project support the learning of technical skills nurses might need when attending patients in different healthcare settings.

Insertion and removal of nasogastric tube

The video shows you how to insert and remove a nasogastric tube (NGT). The NGT is a tube that goes from the nasal cavity down to the stomach. It can be made of different materials such as silicone or polyurethane and its purpose can be therapeutic, preventive, or diagnostic. You will learn the steps to follow to place an NGT and an example of a subsequent verification to make sure that the NGT is well placed. You will also learn how to remove the tube in the correct way.
