ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project “Digital Toolbox for innovation in nursing education (I-Box)” provides teaching and learning materials (infographics, podcasts and videos) for nursing students and professionals. The materials from this project support the learning of technical skills nurses might need when attending patients in different healthcare settings.

Urinary catheterization: female (without assistence)

This post is also available in: Suomi (Finnish) Deutsch (German) Русский (Russian) Slovenščina (Slovenian) Español (Spanish)

The video shows the insertion of a permanent urinary catheter to a woman without assistance. Catheterization is performed in case of urinary problems (e.g., retention). Urinary catheter insertion is performed under aseptic conditions. Using the recording, students can acquire knowledge in assessing the patient’s condition, preparing devices and space, performing the intervention and arranging the patient and the space after the intervention, and documenting the intervention.
