The video shows how blood cultures are taken. This technique consists of obtaining two blood samples from a venous source, the samples should be collected in an anaerobic bottle and in an aerobic bottle. It is carried out during the fever spike in order to find out which microorganism is causing the infection in the patient. You will learn how to perform it following an antiseptic method to avoid contamination of the sample and the order in which the blood culture bottles should be filled.
